Set up email in the Outlook app on iPhone

2 minute readUpdated 19 Oct 2026

Add your Tasjeel.ae mailbox to the Microsoft Outlook app on your iPhone. The one thing to watch: Outlook first guesses your email is Exchange. It isn’t, so you switch it to IMAP.

Before you start

You’ll need your email address, your mailbox password and your server name. See Email settings: server names and ports.

Add your mailbox

  1. Open Accounts

In Outlook, tap your profile picture at the top left, then the ⚙ settings icon at the bottom left. Tap Accounts. (The first time you open Outlook, it asks for your email straight away: skip to step 3.)

    Settings › Accounts
    Settings › Accounts
  2. Tap Add Account

Tap Add Account, then Email Account.

    Tap Add Account
    Tap Add Account
  3. Type your email

Type your full email address and tap Add Account.

Your email address, then Add Account
Your email address, then Add Account
  4. Tap Not Exchange

Outlook shows an Exchange form. Your Tasjeel.ae email isn’t Exchange, so tap Not Exchange at the top right, then Change Account Provider.

  5. Choose IMAP

    Under Advanced, tap IMAP.

    Choose IMAP
  6. Fill in the incoming server

Type your name in Display Name. Under IMAP Incoming Mail Server: your server name in IMAP Hostname, port 993, Port Security SSL, your full email address in IMAP Username, and your mailbox password.

    Server name or mail.yourdomain.ae?

Use mail.yourdomain.ae only if your domain points to your Tasjeel.ae hosting. Use your server name (such as finyaan.tasjeel.ae) if any of these apply: your website is hosted somewhere else (such as Shopify or Wix) · your domain uses Cloudflare · your DNS is managed outside Tasjeel.ae · your app says it can’t verify the server or its certificate. Whichever you choose, use the same one for incoming and outgoing.

  7. Fill in the outgoing server and sign in

Under SMTP Outgoing Mail Server: the same server name, port 465, SSL. Type your full email address in SMTP Username and your password in SMTP Password too, or your emails won’t send. Tap Sign In.

  8. Check your inbox

Your mailbox appears in Outlook. Send yourself a test email to check sending works.

Common questions

Outlook went straight to an Exchange form.

That’s normal. Tap Not Exchange › Change Account Provider › IMAP, as in step 4.

It says it can’t connect, or the password is wrong.

Check both passwords and that the username is your full email address. Then try your server name, such as finyaan.tasjeel.ae, instead of mail.yourdomain.ae. See Email settings: server names and ports.

I use Outlook on Android.

The steps are much the same: Add Account › your email › choose IMAP (tap Setup account manually if Outlook offers it), then the same servers and ports.
