Here’s how to move your domain from GoDaddy to Tasjeel.ae, step by step. Keeping the domain at GoDaddy for now? You can still use our hosting or email with it, and we show you how below.
Transfer your domain from GoDaddy
- Unlock the domain
In the domain’s settings in GoDaddy, find Transfer and switch the lock off. It can take a little while to update.
- Get the authorization code
Under Transfer, choose Transfer to Another Registrar, then Continue with transfer. Complete any verification GoDaddy asks for, then reveal and copy the code. GoDaddy also emails it to the domain’s owner.
- Order the transfer with us
In our client area, go to Domains › Transfer in a Domain, enter the domain and code. See Transfer a domain to Tasjeel.ae: start here.
- Approve it if asked
GoDaddy may email the owner to approve the transfer. Approving it speeds things up.
The domain can’t move within 60 days of being registered, transferred or changing owner. Renew it first if it’s close to expiry. .com and similar transfers usually take 5 to 7 days.
Keeping the domain at GoDaddy? Use it with our hosting or email
Keep the domain at GoDaddy and point it to us by changing its nameservers.
- Get our nameservers
Use the nameservers in your Tasjeel.ae hosting welcome email. Use all of them, two or four.
- Open the domain in GoDaddy
Sign in to GoDaddy, open your Domain Portfolio and select the domain to reach its settings.
- Change the nameservers
Choose DNS, then Nameservers, then Change Nameservers. Pick “I’ll use my own nameservers”, enter ours, then Save and Continue. GoDaddy may ask for a verification code if your domain has extra protection.
Once the nameservers change, records you kept in GoDaddy (for example for Microsoft 365) no longer work. Copy anything you need to us first.
Prefer to keep GoDaddy’s DNS? You can instead add our records there, such as the A record for your website and the MX records for your email. Ask us which ones you need.
