Two different people can be involved in a domain: the owner on the registry record, and the person whose Tasjeel.ae account it sits in. Knowing which is which saves a lot of trouble later.
The registrant
The person or company on the registry’s record. This is the legal owner. Only they can change the owner, or move the domain to another account or provider.
The account holder
The person named on the Tasjeel.ae account the domain sits in. They can renew it, change DNS and manage services, but that doesn’t make them the owner.
Why it matters
Domains are often registered by a web designer, an agency or a staff member. If they put the domain in their own name, or in their own account, you can lose control of it when they leave.
Open your domain in the client area and look at Contact Information › Registrant. It should be your company’s name (or yours), with an email address you control.
We never decide who owns a domain
The registry record does. If two people disagree about a domain, they need to settle it between them, or through the .ae Domain Administration (aeDA) or a court.
